6 Inspirational and Creative Spaces

If you are an artist or crafter you need a great organized place where your creativity becomes artwork and  give you best results from your work.

Finding functional yet stylish solutions can be challenging. I have photo collection below of rooms that bring me inspiration, which I would like incorporate in a small office closet.

I love the Ikea file cabinets and the vintage laundry basket in this room.

There's a place for everything and everything in its place in this garage turned art studio.

Clever use of clothes drying rack.

I love the wall mounted cube shelving. This room is functional, yet has a bit of whimsy.

How about this re-purposed hutch?

This blueprint cabinet would be great for paper storage.

I am so enamored with these new and creative ideas for re- purposing furnishings.

Do you have a creative room or craft area?

DIY Mini Cupcake Stand

If you are Pinterest addict like me, you've probably seen a version of mini cupcake stands made from wooden candle sticks. I have been dying to make them, but did not want to spend the time or money to go look for the materials.

Lucky me, I happened to be at my favorite... Art Resource Center picking up supplies and stumbled upon wooden thread spools. I was tickled pink and new exactly what to do with them. So here you go....my version of a mini cupcake stand made from wooden spools.

To do this, you'll need to build the base with wooden spools and glue together with wood glue, wooden circles, or paper ornaments (I found these on clearance after Christmas).

I made them to display our cupcakes for Easter. This project has been on my Pinterest board for a while, but now I can mark it as done!

DIY Christmas Advent Wreath

I love this time of year, the holidays - not the cold weather. I remember my first Christmas in the U.S. like it was yesterday. The real extra fat tree covered with silver tinsel, fell everywhere on the floor. These days prefer a faux (pre-lit and slender) Christmas tree - displayed in an cute urn, of course.

I've also started a new tradition of lighting an advent wreath, which I made at my church. This wreath is made of a wooden disc covered in evergreen and has four candles. You can read more about the meaning of the Advent Wreath here.  It's an easy DIY project make and inexpensive too.

You'll need a small wooden 18 inches in diameter (or larger, it's up to you) disc that you'll want to cut to a donut whole shape and pre-drill 4 holes for candle.
Greenery (recycle an older wreath)
Pine cones or or Christmas ornaments.
Candles (3 purple and 1 pink), wired ribbon and glue gun.

Advent Wreath Instructions in Pictures

Assemble and hot glue greenery to wreath, (up-cycle an older wreath). Fill in with pine cones and berries and got glue to wreath, insert candles then glue a cute ribbon to wreath.

Advent Wreath using up-cycled ornaments

Instead of pine cones, I decided to add some up-cycled ornaments. As an after thought the wooden base should have been painted in green. I guess I'll have to make another one next year :-)
